The Lenten Calendar
uses three dimensional symbols as well as felt
symbols. An alternate design is to
make all the symbols in felt. Patterns
are included for making all symbols in felt.
Although this calendar is designed to be made by children and youth,
adults enjoy making and using it. Each
of the symbols can be enhanced or embellished with creative sewing, art or craft
techniques.
Material other than felt can be used for symbols.
Examples: leather for the money bag, satin for the dove, velvet for the
heart, gathered tulle and net for the butterfly, etc. Soft fabrics may need to
be attached to felt backing to retain their shape when hung.
Optional embellishments are sequins,
beads, feathers, etc.
