What is Lenten
Bible School (LBS)?
LBS does not replace or compete with Vacation Bible School.
Held during the six weeks of Lent, it enables children to take an active
part in Lent and develop an understanding and appreciation of the Lenten season.
Why have Lenten
Bible School?
To provide a preparatory period for Easter that children look
forward to, comparable to the Advent season. The concepts of penitence and
repentance, denial and suffering are harder for children to relate to and
embrace than the expectation, hope and celebration of Advent.
What are our
guidelines for Lenten Bible School?
LBS is planned to:
Be fun and attractive - children
ask to come.
Have activities by which children can recognize and participate in the
Lenten season.
Have a hands-on involvement in service to others.
